3 FERMETURE OF FORGINGS FOR USE IN THE PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS INDUSTRY 17 A.3 API Monogram: Licensee Responsibilities A.3.1 Program Monogram Requirements For all organizations wishing to acquire and maintain a license to use the API monogram, compliance with the following requirements must be required at all times: a) the requirements of the API quality management system; (b) the requirements of the API-monogram program of the Q1 API, Appendix A; (c) the requirements contained in the specifications of API products for which the organization is authorized; (d) the requirements of the Monogram Program License Agreement. A.3.2 Control of the application and removal of the API monogram Each licensee must control the application and removal of the monogram of the API in accordance with the following provisions: a) Products that do not meet the API requirements must not carry the API monogram. b) each licensee develops and implements an api-monogram identification system that documents the labelling/monograph requirements set out in this appendix and all applicable specifications and/or API standards. The labelling procedure must 1) determine the authority responsible for the application and removal of the API monogram and licence number; 2) define the method or methods used to apply the monogram and license number; 3) identify the location on the product to which the API monogram and license number must be applied; 4) prescribe the use of the date of manufacture of the product in connection with the use of the API monogram and license number; 5) require that the manufacturing date be indicated at least in double digits for the month and double digits for the year (for example. B for May 2012), unless otherwise stated in the applicable API specifications or standards; and 6) to define the application of all other API specifications and/or standard marking requirements. c) Only an API licensee can apply the API monogram and its license number to monogrammed API products. (d) The API monogram and license number, when issued, are location-specific and, subsequently, the API monogram can only be applied to that site-specific authorized site. (e) The API monogram may be used at any time during the production process, but must be removed in accordance with the licensee`s API monogram identification procedure if it is found that the product subsequently does not comply with applicable API product specifications and/or API and API-monogram monogram programs. For certain manufacturing processes or types of products, other api-monogram marking methods may be acceptable.
